“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.” John 15:9 (NIV)

God’s love is constant in life’s storms, offering gentle reassurance when we feel overwhelmed. But how do we experience this love daily? How do we let it shape our thoughts, guide our actions, and influence our response to challenges?

Understanding God’s Love

To understand God’s love, we must first experience it ourselves. It’s often easy to believe God loves others—the kind neighbor, the faithful church member, the devoted friend—but we struggle to accept His love is just as passionate and unconditional toward us.

But God’s Word leaves no room for doubt. Romans 8:38-39 (NIV) reminds us, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Understanding this love takes intention. Meditate on scripture, savoring His promises. In prayer, pour out your heart to God, sharing both joys and struggles. Each day, look for His gentle reminders—from a kind word to a vibrant sunset.

Finding Peace in God’s Love

Resting in God’s love doesn’t make troubles vanish; it just means we carry them differently. Grounded in His love, struggles don’t define us, and peace isn’t tied to perfect circumstances. Like a child resting in a parent’s arms, we find safety and hope even in chaos.

When difficulties come, we’re tempted to ask, “Why, God?” instead of “How, God? How are you using this? How can I experience your love?” Shifting perspective helps us trust His promises. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) urges us to trust the Lord, not our own understanding: submit to Him, and He will direct your path.

God’s love is active and reshaping. Secure in His love, we reflect His heart to the world. Transformation starts in our minds, where His truth confronts our doubts. “You’re not enough” becomes “You are fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14, NIV). “I can’t” becomes “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13, NIV).

Abiding love

Living Out God’s Love

God’s love moves us to action, shaping how we treat others. Guided by His love, we practice forgiveness, compassion, and service, even when it’s hard. In a world craving connection, our lives testify that God’s love changes everything.

Abiding in God’s love isn’t a one-time choice but a daily practice of surrender and trust. It means inviting Him into every moment, routine, or extraordinary. On hard days, believe His love is greater than your circumstances.

Today, set aside time to reflect on His love. Memorize a scripture reminding you of His unwavering affection. Rest in, grow in, and reflect His love to a world that needs it.
