Have you ever sat by the ocean and listened to the waves gently kiss the shore, even with a storm brewing in the distance?

Living in Gods Peace

That’s what God’s peace is like. It doesn’t ignore the storm; it simply exists despite it. In today’s fast-paced, anxiety-inducing world—filled with unwelcome news, uncertainty, and personal struggles—peace seems like a luxury few can afford.

But as believers, we have access to a kind of peace the world cannot explain or replicate. A peace that goes beyond circumstances. A peace rooted in God.

So how do we live in that peace daily? How can we hold on to calm when the storms of life try to shake us?

Cultivating peace starts internally. Each day, we’re bombarded with information, decisions, and emotions that can easily overwhelm us.

But peace doesn’t come from the absence of problems—it comes from the presence of God. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) reminds us:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

It’s an invitation to trade our anxiety for God’s assurance. When we take everything—yes, everything-to Him in prayer, we create space for His peace to fill us.

It’s like opening the windows of a stuffy room and letting fresh air rush in.

Trust God

But peace doesn’t stop with prayer. It deepens when we trust God’s provision.

What areas of your life are you still trying to control? Finances? Health? Relationships? Control is the enemy of peace because it stems from fear and a lack of self-reliance.

When we believe that God sees us, knows our needs, and will provide in His perfect timing, we loosen our grip and rest in His care. Isaiah 26:3 (NIV) gives us this assurance:

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

Trust is the bridge to peace. And the more we cross it, the more we discover how steady it is.

Share God’s Peace.

Of course, peace is not something we hoard; it’s something we share.

Think of the people in your life: coworkers, neighbors, friends, even strangers. How can you be a channel of Christ’s peace to them?

Sometimes it’s through kind words, a listening ear, or simply showing up with compassion when someone is hurting.

Other times, it’s in being a non-anxious presence in a room full of worry. Jesus said in John 14:27 (NIV):

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

When we carry His peace, we take His presence—and that has the power to shift atmospheres.

Ultimately, God’s peace transforms the way we respond to life’s pressures. It doesn’t mean we never feel stressed, but it does mean we’re anchored.

We don’t panic as quickly. We’re not easily thrown off course. Instead, we lean into the steady, unchanging character of God.

His peace quiets the noise around us and strengthens us within.

So, friend, as you navigate the ups and downs of your day, remember this:

Peace isn’t a destination; it’s a decision—a daily, intentional choice to place your trust in God, to open your heart in prayer, and to be a vessel of His presence wherever you go.

What is one way you can choose His peace today?”
